Police: Man with history of DWIs caused fatal Beaumont crash

BEAUMONT, Texas (KPLC) –A Texas man with previous DWI incidents was driving the wrong way on Interstate 10 Thursday morning when he caused a fatal crash in Beaumont, authorities said.

KBMT reported 36-year-old Nathan Stephens, of Dayton, Texas, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Authorities told KBMT Stephens “was under the influence of alcohol when he drove the wrong way on Interstate 10 Thursday morning.”

Stephens’ truck struck a vehicle driven by Hannah Elizabeth Willis, of Beaumont. The 24-year-old Willis died at the scene.

KBMT reported Stephens was charged with DWI, speeding and driving without a license in Louisiana in 2013 and was convicted of DWI in Texas in 1999.
