Acadian Awakening Music Fest


The Acadian Awakening Music Fest will take place Friday – Sunday, Oct. 2 – 4, at the Lake Charles Civic Center with Lake Charles serving as the opening ceremonies for the event which spans many destinations throughout South Louisiana, Oct. 3-12. Marking the 250th Anniversary of the arrival of the Acadian people, this festival is a celebration our unique culture, music & traditions.

Lake Charles Civic Center, Rosa Hart Theatre:
Acadian Awakening Movie Night Featuring: Against the Tide,
Documentary by Pat Mire, 7 p.m.

                                       Saturday, October 3
Lake Charles Civic Center, Buccaneer Room:
Genealogical Library Research Stations and Historical Displays 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. & 12:15 –3:30 p.m.

Historical Lecture by Warren Perrin 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Warren Perrin will speak about the deportation and trials of the Acadian people who were banished from their homes in Nova Scotia. Perrin is a celebrated scholar who has written books on the Acadian people, their roots and history.

Local artists will have original work on display for festival goers, and local restaurants will prepare their best

Awakening Music Fest will bring that to life in a big way!

Experience an authentic Cajun French mass performed by Father Roland Vaughn of St. Charles Borromeo

Following the service, the Cajun French Music Association will crank up the band for some Cajun dancing!

Canadian Choir Concert

Neil-Michaud Choir from Moncton will give a concert at the beautiful Immaculate Conception Cathedral in
downtown Lake Charles.
